The Embattled Affordable Care Act
Venkateswara Reddy Challa is an experienced data analysis professional, especially for electronic data interchange (EDI). In 2015, Venkateswara Reddy Challa worked with Cognosante on the Department of Health and Human Services Federally Facilitated Exchange/Market (FFM) to help people access insurance under former president Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The intention of the ACA was to expand healthcare coverage for all Americans and work with health insurance companies to lower health care costs and improve care in general. It helped uninsured people access healthcare without the long waits and questionnaires that were previously required, and also could impose a tax penalty on anyone that went uninsured for more than three months. Obamacare, as its often called, became available through online portals like eHealth.com.
Since the new healthcare system was first implemented in 2010, it has faced many challenges, including within the technical domains such as when healthcare.gov, the federal exchange portal, went offline for several weeks in 2013. President Donald Trump has been working to repeal and replace the act, and many people are confused about their healthcare options, which has led to many Americans going without any health insurance at all.
